What Is Live Budder and How Do You Smoke It?

Whether through word of mouth or from reading a menu at a dispensary, you may have heard about this special type of wax with a funky name, live budder.

Live budder is one of the many marijuana concentrates, and this type, in particular, is a pure delicacy. It’s causing so many customers to wonder: what is live budder and how do you smoke it?

We’re going to walk you through it so you can understand what live budder is and become even more of a pro when you walk into a dispensary.

what is live budder

There are some methods of getting baked that you just know, like smoking, vaping, and edibles, but budder is a wax that is best consumed through dabbing.

Have you heard about dabbing live budder?

While it might sound funny to the ear (after all, what do a dance move and a prominent baking ingredient have to do with one another?), a budder dab is unlike any other marijuana product you’ve tried.

Live Budder is incredibly potent, delightfully tasty, and offers several wonderful benefits. Ready to learn more? We’ve got the details on what budder is, how it’s made, and how to smoke budder wax.

What is Budder Weed?

Budder weed is a concentrate, a product that contains an exceptionally high amount of THC.

In other words, bud budder is a substantially more potent product than the fresh flowers you might see (and even buy) at your favorite local dispensary.

Its name comes from its texture, which is smooth and silky, a lot like fresh butter. Like other concentrates, you can use it in a variety of applications, but the most popular method of use is by "dabbing" or vaporizing it.

How to Smoke Budder

After learning about the existence of a budder concentrate, it’s natural to wonder how to smoke budder.

The most popular method for smoking budder concentrate, and for good reason, is using a dab rig.

We’ve got you covered there. Along with dabbing, there’s also a method of smoking out there known as “twaxing.”

We’re going to take a closer look at each one and break them down step by step to help you decide which way you might want to try your budder.

How to Dab Budder Wax

While this might sound more like a technicality, dabbing isn’t so much smoking as it is vaporizing your live budder on a heated surface known as a nail

For those who’ve never dabbed before, the rig itself might look a little complicated. Fortunately, learning how to dab budder weed isn’t all that difficult. With a bit of practice, you’ll be doing it like an old pro in no time.

Before you start, you’ll want to make sure that you have all of your supplies. A little preparation can make for an optimal dab session.

Along with your budder weed, you’ll also want to be sure to grab your dab rig, nail, torch, and dab tool. You could also grab a terp timer for optimum temperature gauging, but it’s not necessary.

Once you’ve got what you need and get your dab rig set up, you’re ready to learn how to dab budder concentrate.

  • Get your budder dab ready. Before you officially start your dab session, you’ll want to get your dab ready. Use your dab tool to portion out a small amount of the concentrate. Remember, budder is substantially more potent than cannabis buds are.
  • Apply heat. Use your torch to heat the nail of your dab rig. You want to make sure it’s good and hot.
  • Add your live THC budder. Now, you won’t apply your budder dab right away. You’ll want to let your nail cool down for several seconds first. When you’re ready, put your mouth over the mouthpiece and grab your dab tool. Apply the dab to the nail and rotate the tool as you pull air into the rig (don’t fully inhale just yet) to draw in the smoke.
  • Inhale, exhale, sit back, and enjoy. When you have enough smoke in the rig, then you can inhale. Since budder is so potent, you don’t really need to hold the smoke in your lungs. You can exhale right after you pull in what you want. Then you can sit back and enjoy the effects.

How to Smoke Budder with Twaxing

Now, twaxing is actually smoking. The process involves mixing your bud budder (or another concentrate) with your dry herb.

Think of it as “spicing up” your joint, pipe, or bong bowl. The addition of the budder adds an extra kick of potency to your smoke sesh, giving you a whole different experience.

Since you are actually smoking budder when you twax, keep in mind that you are burning (combusting) your concentrate, along with your buds.

As such, the smoke can be harsher, and you do run the risk of inhaling some stuff you might not want to. If you are going to go this route, we recommend using the MAV bong. The water filters out a bunch of what you don’t want and helps to cool the smoke. Plus, the smoke goes up a longer neck. The result is a much smoother, more pleasant hit.

Here’s a breakdown of how to smoke budder with twaxing:

  • Prepare your joint or bowl as usual. When twaxing, you start as you usually would. Grind your preferred strain of marijuana and place them in your rolling paper or bowl.
  • Sprinkle a bit of budder. Here’s where the fun starts. Once you’ve got your buds ready, take a small amount of your live budder and sprinkle it over the top. If you’re smoking a joint, roll it up and twist the end to complete it.
  • Light up. After adding your budder weed, you can take your hit just as you always do. However, be prepared for a more intense experience. Light your joint or bowl, inhale, and enjoy.

How is Budder Wax Made?

Like many other concentrates, the process for making live bud budder involves the use of a solvent.

Depending on the manufacturer, the solvent may be either butane or CO2.

The solvent is placed into a pressurized tank, which transforms it from a gas to a liquid. The manufacturer places raw marijuana buds into a machine.

When the process begins, the liquid solvent washes over the raw cannabis plant material. As it does, it pulls out the THC as well as other cannabinoids and terpenes. The liquid collects in another chamber of the machine. It then gets purged to remove any remaining solvent.

What separates budder from other cannabis concentrates is what happens during the purging process. Toward the middle or end of it, the liquid gets agitated (whipped) to incorporate air. That’s what crystalizes it and transforms it into the smooth, luxurious dab so many people love.

Live Bud Budder vs Crumble

As we touched on earlier, budder is one of many cannabis concentrates. It often gets confused with crumble.

The process for creating these two concentrates is similar, but it’s dissimilar enough that this difference leads to two unique products.

Budder gets whipped almost like cake batter to incorporate air, the agitation process for crumble is much slower. As a result, it gets less air incorporated into it.

Budder is smooth and silky, crumble is much drier and, well, crumbly.

Live THC Budder vs Shatter

Shatter is another popular cannabis concentrate. Unlike budder, it’s a brittle, translucent product that breaks apart easily. Properly purged, it looks very much like glass. In other words, users should handle it with care to avoid dropping it and losing a portion of their stash.

Again, the main difference between the two (which causes the different appearances and textures) is the manufacturing process.

In the case of shatter, there is no whipping of any kind. Instead, manufacturers purge the concentrate under pressure and low temperatures. Any air incorporation could ruin the final product.

Additionally, improper storage (including exposure to light and heat) could degrade the crystalline product, which can affect its potency and even cause it to turn into budder.

What is Budder Concentrate for?

Like other concentrates, budder is substantially more potent than your average cannabis flower.

Generally speaking, they can have as much as 80% to 90% THC (if not more!). That means you can get quite a kick of THC in a very small amount of product. It also means your stash lasts a lot longer.

That’s not the only benefit of live budder. For one, the concentrate offers a purer smoke.

You’re not burning (and then inhaling) bits of the plant when you inhale. And it contains high levels of terpenes, too, which give you exceptionally flavorful hits every time.

You may also find the texture preferable. It’s easier to scoop and use, so you won’t have to worry so much about losing any of your precious concentrate.

Is Taking a Budder Dab a Safe Way to Smoke?

One thing to keep in mind with live bud budder is that it is so much more potent than fresh cannabis flowers. As such, a little bit goes a long way.

Consuming too much isn’t inherently harmful, but it can be uncomfortable for a while. You can avoid that potential issue by starting with a tiny amount and gradually increasing your dose until you find what provides you with the most desirable results.

When it comes to the actual extraction process, that’s where things can get a little tricky. Using butane as a solvent can create some problems if the manufacturer doesn’t do it correctly.

Incorrectly purging the concentrate can leave some butane behind, which could then lead to some health issues. That’s why you always want to be familiar with the manufacturer and your dispensary. Always do your research and never be afraid to ask for third-party lab test results.

Some people express concerns over the act of dabbing itself. We assure you, the process is nothing to fear, especially with the HAMR rig. The water in the dab rig filters and cools the smoke as it passes into the chamber, making it smoother and more pleasant.

Conclusion

Live budder is one the most popular cannabis concentrates on the market, and it’s easy to see why. It’s smooth, easy to work with, and offers both incredible flavors and intense potency.

You also have options when it comes to smoking budder. You can dab budder weed with a dab rig, or you can twax live bud budder in a joint or in the bowl of your pipe or bong.

What’s more, learning how to dab budder concentrate is incredibly easy. For cannabis enthusiasts looking for something a little different, a budder dab offers a wonderfully unique experience.

Get the most out of your live budder by taking low-temp dab hits with the HAMR.
