Marijuana for Health

Is taking Marijuana and Adderall safe?

The other day a patient of mine, lets call him Derek (names have been changed to protect the innocent), told me something concerning. People are consuming marijuana (legally), and then taking various versions of the prescription drug Adderall to facilitate daily work/life.

First, mixing prescription substances is always bad.   Second, Adderall is not a medication that is not without harm in itself – in fact, Adderall has been associated with side effects such as paranoia, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, and has been associated with life threatening cardiac dysrhythmias, convulsions, fevers, and potentially death. In short, despite being commonly prescribed, Adderall can truly be dangerous. Lets take a closer look at Adderall and what it can do to your body.

Since its initial release in 1996, prescriptions for Adderall have nearly tripled. It was initially prescribed for ADHD and narcolepsy, but is now being so commonly abused that a study conducted in 2012 found that nearly 75% of college seniors have been offered Adderall, with nearly half that group (31% overall) having tried or regularly use Adderall.

Lets look at the Adderall and its central nervous system (CNS) effects. Some of the common effects associated with Adderall have been restlessness, headache, slurred speech, and potentially reduction in sexual drive and performance. More concern, regular use of Adderall, when stopped suddenly, can lead to depression, extreme fatigue, with potential withdrawal including hunger, moodiness, panic attacks, and nightmares.

Adderall can have a slew of other effects; Adderall can increase your blood pressure, cause chest pain (potentially due to cardiac ischemia), diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, and simple but annoying rashes. That being said, the most dangerous and potentially life threatening complications of Adderall include cardiac arrhythmias that can lead to death.

So to recap, while commonly prescribed, Adderall can be potentially dangerous and should never be mixed with any other substances. If you’re a frequent user of marijuana, there are a variety of other safe, herbal products that you can, and should use instead. Adderall is potentially dangerous and should be used only as directed by your physician.   For a safe alternative to adderall, look to try a safe and natural alternative like Lifted View.

USA states to legalize marijuana

For the marijuana industry, 2014 was a milestone year. It saw the United States, softening their stance on pot, with Colorado becoming the first ever state to legalize marijuana for recreational use. Since that monumental ruling, there has been a huge spike, not only in acceptance, but in sales as well.

The 2014 midterms saw legalization sweep over more areas of the country, including Oregon, Alaska and Washington D.C. For now, it looks as if the west coast is epicentre of the movement, but that may change in 2016.

Numerous individuals are as yet battling with the idea of authorized cannabis. For a considerable length of time and eras, Americans became acclimated to knowing cannabis as an effective and risky medication — one that could prompt passings and criminal conduct on the off chance that it was permitted in their group. The previous decade has truly opened up quite a few people’s eyes to the realities, which entirely eases those stresses. The therapeutic cannabis groups in a few states have additionally demonstrated the tremendous advantages cannabis can have for the sick, which is one of numerous variables that have prompted a seismic move in general supposition in regards to pot sanctioning. In no time, we sit on the slope of more states planning for impending marijuana sanctioning activities, either got from state officials or from subjects themselves through the polls. Colorado and Washington commenced the entire thing, and have following been joined by a couple of others. That doesn't imply that a large number of different states aren't on the cusp. In any case, here are 5 states that are next in line to legalize marijuana:

Massachusetts - One of those states that is preparing for a 2016 ticket activity is the New England liberal fortification of Massachusetts. Occupants of Massachusetts aren't hesitant to be trailblazers, as they have introduced clearing social insurance changes under then-senator Mitt Romney, and were the first state in the country to sanction same-sex marriage. Presently, cannabis sanctioning supporters are preparing for the following huge open battle: finishing cannabis forbiddance.

Maine - The Pine Tree State had local measures on the ballot in the 2014 midterm election in Lewiston and South Portland that would make possession of up to one ounce of marijuana legal for adults 21 years of age or older. The vote was 55% to 45% against in Lewiston, but 52% to 48% in favor in South Portland. The measures also indicated support for regulating marijuana in a manner similar to alcohol at the state level.

Nevada - Occupants of Nevada obviously don't crave getting left behind as the whole west drift sets itself up for authorization, so a few inhabitants are preparing for a potential 2016 poll activity that will go with the same pattern. The procedure began not long ago, with individuals from the state assembly alongside occupant supporters beginning to accumulate marks in arrangement for a wound at the 2016 election cycle.

Arizona - So far, legalization has taken root in Western liberal coastal states and libertarian mountain states. Conservative voters, which outnumber liberals in Arizona, are less likely to support recreational pot. But they are moving in that direction. A new poll from progressive firms SKDKnickerbocker and Benenson Strategy Group found that 61% of Americans support legalization nationwide, including 71% of Democrats and 48% of Republicans. In 2014, Gallup found that 51% of Americans support legalization, down from 58% the year before. “The federalism argument is starting to see traction,” says the Drug Policy Alliance’s Malik Burnett. Young Republicans are driving the charge, with 6 in 10 of them siding with those who want to make weed legit. And young voters are more likely to turn out in a presidential election year like 2016. “That only bodes positive for the initiative,” Burnett says.

Florida - In early May, the Florida House overwhelmingly voted in support of a bill to exempt patients with cancer and other severe conditions from criminal laws pertaining to the use of medicinal marijuana. The bill will allow limited access to cannabinol, or CBD, for treatment of such illness. Governor Rick Scott signed the bill on June 16. The Florida ballot in the 2014 midterm election included an amendment on the legalization of medical marijuana thanks to a public petition campaign. The measure required 60% of the vote to pass, but voters struck it down 58% to 42%.

Wooden Sculpture of Science Genetics

Marijuana has been popular forever. It has gained even more popularity in the last few years due to some states making it legal. People from the 60’s swear that it made them more creative. Even people today still believe that smoking weed and creativity go hand in hand. Authors that run into writers block have said that smoking a joint made all the difference in the world. In the music business, musicians say that weed was the reason for all the great rock and roll songs that are classics. And the artists swear they have painted their best paintings, and sculpted their best sculptures.

So is it true that weed and creativity are responsible for some of the greatest brain power ever? Well some say yes but studies say no. There have been quite a few studies done on brain function and marijuana. Does it make you smarter?

Well let’s start with what the actual cannabis user seems to believe. They believe it expands their minds and boosts their brain power especially in the arts. They see things from a whole different point of view. They claim that their brain function under the influence of marijuana is much better and makes them smarter. They claim they are more relaxed which makes them more creative.

Well science seems to have a little different take on the subject. Many studies have proved that the subjects involved in the study, indeed perceive themselves as more creative and having more ideas. The keyword here is “perceive.” Just because something is perceived does not make it a fact or true. Smoking a joint is known to alter perceptions. Even if the smoker is feeling more creative it is actually an illusion.

Does Marijuana make you more creative?    Most of our products at Myster have been dreamed up after a nice fogpen or Shotgun Vape session.    We think it does, but we know it has a different effect on everyone.     We would love to hear what you think and any specific stories of how cannabis has effected your creativity positively or negatively.

Weed Pre-roll

Anyone who rolls will tell you that one of the most annoying part of rolling choosing a functional rolling surface. Some people prefer using a binder or an old phone book to save money. However, choosing a nice sized rolling tray with the right tools and accessories can make it not only easier to roll your weed, but also make the experience feel more classy and impressive. Someday, its likely that smoking marijuana after dinner with house guests will be no different than opening a bottle of bordeaux. There are many marijuana trays in the market. However, not all of these trays are crated equal for the best joint rolling experience. Here are what we consider the top 3 cannabis trays in the market.

#1. The Stashtray by Myster

This is the best cannabis rolling tray in the market. It has many features that other trays do not have. Its stainless steel construction makes it look and feel like you are buying a premium product right from the start. The Stashtray comes with a useful pipe Spike for cleaning cashed bowls. The upper part of the device functions as a bowl holder, allowing the user to fit 14 mm and 18 mm pieces to pack rather than trying to pack them at an angle while being attached to a glass bong. The tray also has a magnetized grinder, and storage container for herb that can be conveniently used in conjunction with the clever finger ramp so nothing gets wasted. There are magnetic stickers included as well for someone to accessorize their own tray with whatever they like such as rolling papers or Myster’s Fogpen. Another innovative feature in the Stashtray is the book box. This box allows you to put everything away and keep the tray hidden from view if you choose. Whether you are looking to keep your goodies away from the kids, or show off a new coffee table centerpiece, this Myster tray is pretty badass.

#2. Raw Rolling Tray

The design of this weed rolling could be descried as simple. The tray is square and is available in three sizes. The small tray measure 11’’x 7’’, while the large trays measure 14’’x11’’. There is also an XXL version that measure 20’’x15’’. This choice of sizes allows you to have a tray size that can fully serve your needs. If you want to roll many joints, you can go for the large or XXL size. Raw rolling trays are non-stick and they can stay dry even when littered with the dankest of herb. The small trays are easily portable. This means that you can carry your weed rolling helper with you everywhere you go. The trays are study, meaning they can serve you for a long period without the need of replacement. The price for the trays varies depending on size. The small trays are obviously cheaper than the larger ones. If you’re looking for something very basic without the exciting accessories and powerful design that the Myster Stashtray has, then this could be a cheaper option for you.

#3. Wolf Productions T4 deluxe golden maple rolling box

This tray comes with a large compartment of accessories to allow easy storage. This also helps you to have good organization of your accessories. The organization makes it easy for you to pick the tools when preparing your joint. The lid has a Kingsize Slim paper holder that is built on the underside of the lid. The paper holder is attached to the underside with a magnet. There is also a V block with a removable compartment beneath it. All these compartments help the user in organizing the rolls. The tray is wooden and well finished to make rolling of joints easy. Wood also makes this cannabis tray durable.

Misconceptions about pot smokers

1. Daily pot users are lazy.

There is no scientific proof that smoking weed makes you lazy or unmotivated. Yes, smoking pot may make people relaxed and makes people want to chill out. The way I see it, people are either motivated or lazy and what they choose to smoke has very little to do with that. Coming from someone who does smoke weed every day, I can honestly say that I have smoked weed and written papers, cleaned a house, ran errands, gone to work, etc. It all depends on what type of person you are. If you're the type who smokes and melts into the couch for hours, maybe it's a good idea to take car of your tasks first, then smoke up.

2. Daily pot smokers are unmotivated

This is another one that I'd have to disagree with wholeheartedly from a personal stance. As a three time college graduate, full time employee, and full time parent, I can honestly say that I am a motivated person with or without smoking weed. If I have a goal in sight, that goal is on the forefront of my mind. Smoking weed doesn't inhibit me from attaining that goal. It doesn't push me to the goal either. I will say, that when I feel like my plate is too full, and I have too much going on, smoking bud calms my mind and makes me feel relaxed. Definitely not unmotivated.

3. Daily pot smokers kill an enormous amount of brain cells

The research about this topic are very shady. Many people have heard this ‘fact’ because it’s based on research that was done during the first reefer madness movement. Scientists did a poorly performed study on monkeys where they pumped them full of so much smoke from marijuana that they suffocated them. What’s one of the first signs of suffocation? That’s right, brain damage. This study was used in the anti-marijuana propaganda so prohibitionists could keep marijuana illegal. It's crazy the lengths that the man will go through to try to keep marijuana illegal. The best way to combat that is to stay informed.

No study has even been done that has scientifically proven that marijuana kills brain cells.

2. Daily users are addicted to marijuana

Yes, it’s pretty easy to get into the habit of smoking pot on a daily basis, but it’s not physically addictive. Marijuana does not produce any withdrawal symptoms, no matter how heavy someone uses it.  When I was pregnant, I quit smoking pot for a year and had no problems doing so. No cold sweats, no chills, no puking, or gross bowel movements. I was a little cranky but not 'sick' by any means. However, everyone is different so quitting may be harder for some than others, but there is no universal withdrawal for every user.

1. Daily users will eventually move on to heavier drugs.

This is one of the most ridiculous misconceptions of daily drug users. Smoking weed everyday does not mean that you'll start smoking crack or shoot heroin.  Pot was one of the first drugs I used, and I did experiment with ‘harder’ drugs later in life, but I can personally say that pot didn’t lead me to those drugs. I would have tried them no matter what. I also know a lot of pot smokers who’ve never done any other drug in their entire life, as well as a coke head who’s never smoked pot a day in his life. It truly depends on the individual, their personality and the type of people that they associate with. Plus, the effects ‘harder’ drugs are much different from the effects of pot. If you’re into smoking pot and sitting in front of the tube for the night then I highly doubt that you’re going to be into snorting a line of coke. Two completely different highs. Two completely different feelings.

Top 5 Famous Stoners

Man Smoking Weed
Weed smokers come in all shapes and sizes from all walks of life. From the Joe Shmo's on the street to those who are in the spotlight, here's a list of the five most famous stoners (in my opinion)...

5. George Washington

There are a number of credible sources that claim that the First POTUS not only smoked but cultivated hemp on his own , in the nations capital. It's been rumored that our founding father actually separated male and female plants and scaled their THC potency in detailed diaries that he kept. He totally would've had my vote.

4. The cast of Half Baked; Thurgood Jenkins, Brian, Scarface, and Kenny

This baked foursome was by far one of the most memorable stoner cast in one of the best stoner movies ever made.  From the hilarious one liners to the ridiculous story plot, this is definitely a movie made by stoners for stoners. Side note: Half Baked is best enjoyed when fully baked-- just sayin...

3. Scooby and Shaggy

This is one of the most debated stoner topics of all time; we're Scooby and Shaggy stoners? Even though they never blazed up on film, all of the signs point to Y-E-S. They were constantly eating or talking about food. And let's not forget about Shaggy's stoner look and lingo. If I had to guess, I'd say there were lots of toke sessions in the Mystery Van.

2. The Dude- The Big Lebowski

The Dude truly depicts the long term effects of a habitual pot smoker. This character gives us a glimpse into what happens when you spend years and years getting high: you develop a zen-like attitude toward everything, really appreciate bowling, and have a bitchin’ rug that ties the room together. The Dude teaches us that eventually, after a lot of smoking, you reach a state of enlightenment. And that anyone can rock a pink robe during any time of day. I can dig it, man.

1. Cheech and Chong

I think that the number one spot goes to Cheech and Chong. Pretty much every movie that they've ever been in has been made for stoners with the two ultimate pot heads. Even though they're currently not in the Hollywood spotlight, they remain the masters of stoner comedy.
